SRPe Workshop on Robotics in Healthcare

SRPe held a workshop in Robotics in Healthcare on 17th January 2019. This was delivered within SRPe’s Robotics and Autonomous Systems theme as part of our ‘RAS & AI Impact Acceleration Initiative’ and held at the Technology and Innovation Centre, Glasgow.

Led by the Chair of SRPe’s Robotics & Autonomous Systems Thematic Leadership Group (RAS-TLG), Prof Yvan Petillot of Heriot-Watt University, and the SRPe RAS & AI Initiative Coordinator, Claire Ordoyno, the workshop brought together key academics and knowledge transfer professionals from across the leading universities working in robotics and artificial intelligence in Scotland.

The event showcased the wealth of research and technology development in Robotics in Healthcare being carried out across Scotland, across the areas of Sensing; Assistive Robotics; Surgical Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Applications for Healthcare.

Future collaborative funding opportunities with a focus on delivering industrial impact (e.g. UKRI Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund) were explored.

A second workshop with industry will be delivered over the next few months with a view to establishing academic-industry collaborations to deliver future projects in Robotics in Healthcare.
